Fractal - Artist Statement

I am part of a mini exhibition at uni with three other students, and it opens tomorrow. So, I had to write an artist statement. And this is it.

My paintings are of children living in an orphanage in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I met them in May 2007 and during my time there I acquired about 1000 photos, many of which the children took of each other. These photos, along with my memories of each child, form the basis of my paintings.

My paintings are about relationships, moments, confrontation, intimacy, communication, memories, childhood, and the human experience.
